Minimal Makeup: Why I Stopped Wearing Foundation
On October 22, 2025 by kayahandeFor years, I thought wearing foundation was the only way to make my makeup look complete. But no matter which one I tried lightweight, full coverage, matte, or dewy foundation always made me feel like I was wearing too much makeup, so far from minimal makeup My skin did not look like skin anymore.
One day, I decided to skip it. I focused on hydrating my skin deeply. Then, instead of applying foundation all over my face, I started using concealer only where I needed it around my nose, under my eyes, and on small blemishes.
The difference was huge. My skin looked more natural, more fresh and honestly, more like me. The glow came from my skincare not from heavy layers of product. Now, I don’t use foundation at all. I just keep my skincare simple, my concealer light, and my blush dewy. My makeup feels breathable, and my confidence comes from seeing my real skin shine through.
Foundation Suggestions
If you still want to use foundation but want to have minimal makeup, choose a lightweight formula like
MAC Face and Body Foundation,
Dior Face and Body Foundation,
Shiseido Sports BB cream,
Maybelline Super Stay Skin Tint,
Loreal Paris True Match Plumping Tinted Serum,
It Cosmetics CC Your Skin But Better Color Correcting,
Clinique CC Super defense cream.
Apply a very thin layer just enough to even your skin tone. Then use concealer or corrector only on areas where you need extra coverage, like acne or redness. This way, your makeup will look fresh, glowy, and natural the perfect no makeup look. But you need to choose lightweight concealer, if you need to cover better use corracter.
